Publishers Marketplace Finds and $$$

The first title that caught my eye on Publishers Marketplace was Hamster Princess Books 1-6, but alas, I will not contemplate that series tonight. Publishers Marketplace format is clean and organized, despite it being a very plain and simple site.

As I continued perusing, I stumbled upon journalist Paul Cantor's Mac Miller biography, which my eyes were immediately drawn to because of a) journalism and b) Mac Miller, especially with his recent death and recent posthumous release. I think that would definitely be an interesting read and something I could see myself picking up in the near future. Though I do consider myself a Mac Miller fan, I wouldn't say that I know an awful lot about his personal life besides the few highlighted details here and there.

The other book titles were difficult to follow, or I didn't know the comparisons they were being made to, so I was lost both ways. However, I did notice when I made it to the bottom of the page of the price legend for some of the book deals.

And I was slightly... confused? It's also somewhat amusing that a nice deal has the hefty minimum of $1. Low salaries seem like a collective joke in the writers/authors/journalism community, which I feel like should be slightly concerning, but I've also accepted my fate at this point. This legend also puts into perspective the monetary value of success in the publishing industry. I always pictured that a "nice" deal would be $500,000 and up, but that could just be me being naive. So... who else is ready to make $1?
